TRIFFID ACOUSTICS – ACOUSTIC SONGS TO KEEP YOU GOING EVERY WEDNESDAY ALAN BOYLE Alan Boyle is an Irish singer-songwriter who calls Australia home, although raised on the north Atlantic coast of Ireland, there is something of that wild country in in the ragged passion of his music. Part of the same burgeoning singer-songwriter scene in Dublin that produced Glen Hansard and Damien Rice, he spent an entire winter busking on Dublin's Grafton Street earning cigarettes from students, abuse from junkies and a tenner from Bono (once). But a love-affair with sunshine and a year-long trek around Australia in an ancient canary-yellow Renault 12 led to a permanent move to Brisbane. Since then he has opened shows for artists as diverse as Mark Seymour, Steve Poltz, Busby Marou, Fionn Regan, Mick Flannery and The Popes, and appeared at festivals like The Planting, Woodford Folk Festival and Brisbane Festival in addition to many other venues across Australia and Ireland.

A past winner of the Billy Thorpe Scholarship Award, he's been a Qsong Award nominee, shortlisted in the Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition and a finalist in both the International Songwriting Competition and the Telstra Road To Discovery. Songs from his debut EP Oxygen received airplay at home and abroad, with Australia’s RAVE magazine saying “Boyle's voice is the standout element on the EP, and acts as a pivot around which all other facets move, and it truly is captivating". His 2014 EP Shepherd And The Sheep is a collection of songs that weave shades of warm guitar-drenched rock and indie folk with textured layers of banjo, pump organ and lush vocal harmonies. It was recording with ARIA award-winning producer Magoo at Applewood studios nestled in the Queensland countryside, and in a restored church in the leafy suburbs of his adopted home along with friends Adrian Mauro (Machine Age), Mardi Lumsden and Lucinda Johnson (O’ Little Sister).

Two tracks lifted from the sessions, “Highway of Dreams” and “Shepherd And The Sheep” were nominated for Queensland Music Awards. He continues to live, write and perform in Brisbane.
