The event was first held in 2009 in memory of William Cummins, to celebrate what would have been William’s 21st birthday.

Since then the event has always sported a full grid of competitors, countless number of smiles from HeartKids lapping the track in race cars and raised over $75,000 for HeartKids NSW. A few facts to ponder... Each week more than 4 Australians pass away as a result of a Congenital Heart condition (CHD). Every day, 8 babies are born with heart defects. CHD is one of the greatest killers of infants under the age of one. Approx half of children diagnosed with heart disease require surgery to correct the defect. It is estimated that 32,000 children (under 18 years of age) are currently living with CHD in Australia. HeartKids works to: Provide support for families with a child with heart disease Reduce the incidence of Childhood Heart Disease Decrease the mortality rates for Childhood Heart Disease HeartKids do this by: Employing Family Support Coordinators Running family and teen activities Funding research into Childhood Heart Disease Providing equipment and facilities
