The biennial WACOSS Conference brings the community services sector together. This year's theme, Making PLACE, will identify ways in which we can empower our communities, build strong partnerships with funding bodies, services, and service users, and employ place-based initiatives that meet local community priorities and aspirations. The program promises to be packed full of dynamic speakers, experts working in strengths-based community development, those who have built community social cohesion to address disadvantage and empower communities, and those with lived experience. Conference registration can be purchased through the ticket link above. When registering you can opt to attend the Networking Day, One- or Two- Day Conference, and the Community Services Excellence Awards event.

Tuesday 1 May - Networking Day Wednesday 2 May - Conference Day 1, followed by the Community Services Excellence Awards Thursday 3 May - Conference Day 2 WACOSS Members receive discounted registration, and regional, rural, and remote attendees can apply for a conference subsidy.

Introducing keynote speaker, Dr Sonja Hood, CEO of Community Hubs Australia. Sonja leads national partnerships between the philanthropic sector, schools, governments, and services, to facilitate placed-based programs to build greater community for people experiencing disadvantage. Previously, Sonja was general manager of community engagement at North Melbourne Football Club, responsible for the establishing The Huddle, to engage culturally diverse young people through education and sport.

Sonja's experience in placed-based initiatives is such a great asset for the WACOSS conference, we can't wait to hear her speak.
