Gallery two - FLEX New work by emerging artists: Belle Blau Paula McCambridge Cameron Stead Proudly Supported by The Awesome Foundation, Sydney. Emerging artists Belle Blau, Paula McCambridge and Cameron Stead present new works with curatorial assistance provided by Upasana Papadopoulos. FLEX explores, challenges and disrupts the power structures that frame their personal, professional and political lives through use of various mediums including painting, installation and digital media.

2017 saw a strong emergence by artist Cameron Stead. His work 'Between You and Me' captured the attention of the judges of the Kilgour Prize, with Lauretta Morton stating: "Both the technicality and the materiality of the painting reflected a deft hand and it is edgy in its subject matter and application of paint...The conceptual element is also strong, in particular the parallels between the image of the bag and the use of latex as a material and backing.

Ultimately the material is part of the whole experience of the image and makes this a unique work of art." Graduating from a Bachelor in Fine Arts at the National Art School in 2017, Stead's work was also included in the Vogue Living list of 'up and coming artists to know in 2018'. In 'Flex', his first post-graduation exhibition, Stead continues to explore and test the boundaries and span of his vision and thought, identifying and questioning factors that have the potential to limit his practice.
Belle Blau's paintings and musical compositions have at their genesis her relationship to writing. In exploring these intimate links between word, sound and vision, there is an emergence of an authentic abstraction of her experience of the world. Belle's work was recently exhibited as part of the National Art School's 'Graduate Show, 2017', where she was awarded the Clitheroe Foundation Master of Fine Arts Scholarship, and her work has been recently acquired for the City of Sydney Civic Collection.
