Glow and Flow Yoga is the latest initiative by MCNT(Multicultural Council of NT). Introduced to all ages over 12 to interested participants, once a week every Saturday from 10.30am to 12.00pm. Bring a yoga mat, towel and water bottle if necessary. Admission is FREE. The session includes some meditation, prayers, relaxations, pranayama, sun salutation, asanas, complete wind-down and close. The idea also introduces the philosophy behind yoga and Ayurveda for a healthier lifestyle. Yoga is a growing trend which has shown a multitude of benefit from physical health and mental wellbeing. It is getting widely accepted worldwide. Ease of flexibility and the advantage is making an important lifestyle choice. Join anytime, and the aim is to eventually be able to make it part of your routine.


All support will be provided to eventually gain success in making it a regular habit. About YogaYoga is primarily a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. Working with breathing, muscle slow and fast movements, flexibility, balancing and strengthening exercise. It is an art and science of healthy living. Even though it might initially appear as a form of a physical workout but it actually covers so much more. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures, the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature.

According to modern scientists, everything in the universe is just a manifestation of the same quantum energy. One who experiences this oneness of existence is said to be in yoga and is termed as a yogi, having attained to a state of freedom referred to as mukti, nirvana or moksha. Thus the aim of Yoga is Self-realization, to overcome all kinds of sufferings leading to 'the state of liberation' dating back to about 5000BC. A Brief History of Yoga:The practice of Yoga is believed to have started with the very dawn of civilisation. The science of yoga has its origin thousands of years ago, long before the first religions or belief systems were born. In the yogic lore, Shiva is seen as the first yogi. The idea was to immolate the skills and techniques of animals and bring increased versatility and immortality to humans.

Eventually, Yoga was being practised under the direct guidance of Guru, and it was taken with great significance. It was a part of Upasana and yoga sadhana was inbuilt in their rituals. Sun was given highest importance during the Vedic period. The practice of ‘Surya Namaskar’ may have been invented later due to this influence. Pranayama was a part of the daily ritual and to offer the oblation. Sage Patanjali systematised and codified the then existing practices of Yoga, its meaning and its related knowledge through his Yoga Sutras. After Patanjali, many Sages and Yoga Masters contributed additionally to the preservation and development of the field through their well-documented practices and literature. Meditation balances the nervous system; stabilising most mental discomforts and even curing many circumstances.

It was amazing to note that during India’s request for International yoga day about 156 countries in United nation came together to vote positively for the day, a large number for such a decision.
