There is something truly magical about live music by the water’s edge. Whether it’s the fresh open air, the still water of the river, or the ebb and flow of a musician’s melodies, we always find ourselves enchanted by the sights and sounds. This is the magical spell of Music by the River featuring the Canberra Symphony Orchestra proudly presented by Icon Water in partnership with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council. This is the third year the Canberra Symphony Orchestra has played as part of Music by the River and the signature event has attracted music lovers from across region. Join us for some orchestral classics — pieces you’ll recognise as soon as you hear them. Held in Queen Elizabeth II Park on the banks of the Queanbeyan River, this concert is one the whole family will enjoy Members of the public are welcome to start their night from 4pm.

Allocated seating will be open, food will be served and the river will be lapping at the shore ready for a night of music.  If you need help finding your seat please approach a friendly QPRC staff member to assist you. You will need to bring your ticket with you either printed or electronically on the night. FAQs What are the differnces between allocated and free areas? Seating is a combination of chairs and reserved grass areas. Please select your seating based on your needs and the needs of the people coming with you. Each person within your group will need a seat allocated to them. Click on the REGISTER button to see the two types of allocated seating. Allocated/ticketed seating Allocated seating space within the Elizabeth II Park’s Amphitheatre is not suitable for people with: wheelchairs or walkers.

An area will be reserved for people in wheelchairs on a first come first served basis. Those wanting to locate this area should approach a friendly QPRC employee for assistance. Prams or pushers. There will also be space allocated for pram parking. Prams can be parked in this location so they don’t obstruct others view of the stage. Large coolers or picnic blankets. Best to grab a spot on the lawn if wanting to spread out. Grassed Riverbank Guests are also welcome to seat themselves on the grassed riverbank with a picnic blanket or lowered seating. This seating is FREE - bring as many people as you like.  Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? This event is open to all ages and lovers of music. There is a licenced area which will require ID for purchase.  What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? Free parking is available at Riverside Plaza or Morisset St car-park (bus interchange).

This site is also easy walk or ride (bike racks avaliable too).  What can I bring into the event? For dinner, you are invited to bring your own picnic or you can experience local gourmet street food - beer and wine tasting also available. Depending on when you arrive at Queen Elizabeth II Park and where you will be seated you could be in the afternoon sun or the cool of the evening, so please bring those things that will make you most comfortable throughout the concert, including an umbrella just in case.  What is the wet weather plans? The weather is always an important factor when planning events in our region and at this stage the weather is expected to be wonderful. Of course, as with any outdoor event, preparation is the key to comfort. In the unlikely event that the Symphony by the River is postponed or cancelled due to bad weather you will be informed by Council’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and the main website page.
